About Empire War

Everything you need to know about building your corporate empire.

What is Empire War?

Empire War is a browser-based idle strategy game where you build a corporate empire from a startup garage to a global conglomerate. Inspired by classic click-and-progress games with a corporate twist.

Check in anytime to execute deals, build business divisions, recruit employees, and attack rival companies. Your empire grows even while you're away. Climb the Power 500 leaderboard and when you're ready, IPO your company to cash out and start a new venture with permanent bonuses.

Empire War is free to play, runs entirely in your browser, and requires no downloads or installations.

The Core Loop

1

Log In & Collect

Collect passive income from your divisions. Check notifications for attacks and achievements.

2

Execute Deals

Spend Action Points (AP) on deals to earn cash, XP, and rare loot drops. Higher-risk deals pay more.

3

Invest & Build

Buy and upgrade divisions for passive income. Hire employees to boost performance.

4

Attack Rivals

Launch hostile takeovers against other players to skim their division income for hours and damage their operations.

5

Manage Risk

Keep your SEC Heat low. Too much aggressive activity triggers audits, investigations, and lawsuits.

6

IPO & Repeat

When ready, go public! Cash out with bonuses and start a bigger empire with permanent advantages.

Action Points (AP)

AP is your stamina. Every deal, recruit view, and management action costs AP. AP regenerates over time at a steady rate. Your maximum AP pool increases as you level up and complete IPO exits.

Deals

Deals are your primary active gameplay. Each deal costs AP, has a success rate, and pays cash + XP. Higher tiers unlock as you level up, with bigger rewards and longer cooldowns.

Tier 2

Tier 3

Tier 4

Tier 5

Each deal has its own individual cooldown. You can run different deals simultaneously as long as you have AP. Some deals have a chance to drop rare collection items.

Divisions

Divisions are businesses you own that generate passive income over time. There are 90 unique division types across 6 industries, each with 3 tiers (Starter, Mid, Top). Income accumulates while you're offline, capped at 12 hours.

Energy
Media
Finance

Retail

Specialization: Own 3+ divisions in one industry for +15% income. Own 5+ for +30%. Certain industry combinations unlock synergy bonuses. Divisions can be upgraded to Level 10, each level increasing income substantially.

Pivoting — Dissolve or Liquidate: Free up a division slot to pivot strategies. Dissolve removes it instantly for 10% of total invested. Liquidate takes 6 hours × level but pays 40% refund + the division keeps earning 60% income during the process. Liquidating divisions can't be attacked.

Employees

Recruit employees with different specialties, levels, and skills. Assign them to roles to boost deal success rates, division income, attack power, or defense. But they cost salary — if you can't pay, they go on strike.

Passive income

Assignments: Unassigned boosts deal success by matching specialty. Attack Team adds skill to your PvP attack power. Defense Team protects your divisions. Division adds +2% income per 100 skill to that specific division.

Operations specialty passively boosts all income (+1% per 100 skill) regardless of assignment — best paired with Attack/Defense for double value.

Reassignment cooldown: Employees can only be reassigned once per hour. Plan your team carefully — you can't flip everyone to attack then back to defense mid-fight. Newly hired employees have no cooldown.

Employees range from Level 1 Interns to Level 10 Executives. The recruiting pool refreshes every 6 hours with random candidates. Higher CEO levels give better odds of finding high-level talent.

Hostile Takeovers (PvP)

Attack other players' divisions (or AI-controlled rival corporations) to skim their income and deal damage. PvP unlocks at CEO Level 11 with level-range protection for new PvP players. Impactful but not devastating — you chip away at rivals, not destroy them.

  • Costs 30 AP + cash stake per attack
  • Win: skim 20% of target division income for 4 hours (paid as bonus income/hr)
  • Lose: forfeit your cash stake
  • Defender gets a 4-hour shield and a free retaliation strike (20% attack bonus)
  • Retaliations skim income too — use them to earn cash back from attackers
  • Maximum 5 attacks per day, 8-hour cooldown per target
  • Levels 11-15: can only attack within ±5 levels. Level 16+: open PvP.
  • Liquidating or damaged divisions can't be attacked

AI Opponents: The corporate world is populated by AI-controlled rival companies with iconic names like Stratton Oakmont, Teldar Paper, and Cyberdyne Systems. They attack back, auto-retaliate, and scale with your level — always giving you worthy opponents.

SEC Heat

SEC Heat represents regulatory attention from the Securities and Exchange Commission. Aggressive deals and attacks add heat. High heat levels trigger escalating penalties that force strategic pacing.

SEC Heat decays naturally at -1 per hour. Use PR Campaigns or Charitable Donations to reduce heat faster.

IPO / Prestige System

IPO is the prestige mechanic. At CEO Level 25+, after completing 3 IPO Preparation deals, you can take your company public. This resets your empire but gives permanent bonuses.

What You Keep

  • 15% of exit valuation as starting cash
  • Weekly dividends (0.5% of exit value)
  • +5 permanent max AP
  • All achievements & completed collections

What Resets

  • CEO level (back to 1)
  • All divisions & employees
  • Incomplete collection pieces
  • SEC Heat & PvP immunity restored

Collections & Achievements

Collections: Loot drops randomly from completed deals. Each item belongs to a collection set of 5 pieces. Complete a set for a permanent bonus that survives IPO.

Market Events

Periodic game-wide events affect all players. Tech Booms boost tech division income. Market Crashes reduce income across the board. Government Stimulus increases deal payouts.
